A Birth Doula does not perform any medical tasks, provide medical advice, diagnose conditions, or make medical decisions for or speak on behalf of the client.

POSTPARTUM SUPPORT

The role of the postpartum doula is to assist new parents into their transition of welcoming their new baby home. To support them emotionally and physically, while also allowing birthing parents to rest and heal, assure they are eating and drinking, and assist with breastfeeding/feeding of the baby. Postpartum doulas also help new parents process their birth stories (if needed), listen and validate the emotional journey they are on as new parents, and provide community resources if needed.

POSTPARTUM CARE IS CHARGED AT $50/HOUR 

 (minimum of 4 hours per shift)

*We currently do not offer overnight support.

POSTPARTUM CARE MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: 

– Assistance with breastfeeding and/or bottle-feeding 

– Providing emotional support for both parents on the adjustment to parenthood

– Running errands and grocery shopping

– Baby's laundry

– Light dishes; such as clean up after cooking or bottle/pump parts

– Assistance with light cooking and simple meal planning/prepping

– Introduction and basic demonstration of newborn care such as bathing, swaddling, and diapering

– Caring for baby so that the new parents can have a break, nap or shower 


POSTPARTUM CARE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: 

– Babysitting

– Heavy housekeeping or cleaning

– Making or influencing medical decisions

– Transporting any member of the family
